It’ll Come

Today is “National Day of Encouragement,” and the timing couldn’t be better for me to share a new song with you. But first, let me share a Scripture that is very dear to my heart:

For the Lord your God is living among you. He is a mighty Savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With His Love, He will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs. (Zephaniah 3:17, NLT)

God is with us. He delights in us. His Love calms us. He sings over us. Wow…

“It’ll Come” is an imagining of what it would be like to hear God singing over me and what I think – what I hope – He would say to me. Honestly, I have been so comforted by this song, which seems silly to say because I wrote it, but it’s such a relief to dwell in the knowledge that God’s got me. It’s so easy to get freaked out about problems in the present or uncertainty about the future, but God calls us to just remain in Him, one day at a time.

I don’t have this mastered. I think that’s the point. I can’t be who God made me to be or do what He made me to do in my own strength. But I don’t have to. He is my strength, and His strength is made perfect in my weakness.

I hope this song encourages you.

And to those who encourage me and speak God’s truth into my life, thank you. May God bless you beyond all you could ask or hope for your faithfulness to Him.

It’ll Come

Child, you worry too much
I know it’s in your nature but
Don’t you realize I’m on your side?
You wonder what tomorrow brings
And if your dreams will amount to anything
But don’t you know I’ve made your future bright?

It’ll come
It’ll come
Lay your troubles down and let Me lift you up
It’ll come
It’ll come
So be still with Me and feel My Love

Child, I’m working in you
Giving you the strength you need to
Follow Me no matter what
And you won’t always understand
So trust in Me and take My hand
As I create a masterpiece from dust

It’ll come
It’ll come
Lay your troubles down and let Me lift you up
It’ll come
It’ll come
So be still with Me and feel My Love

I know your heart, My child
I know you want to walk in My light
And don’t you know that you are My delight?
Remain in Me, dear child

It’ll come
It’ll come
Lay your troubles down and let Me lift you up
It’ll come
It’ll come
So be still and know that I am God
Child, just rest in Me and know you’re loved
